The year was 1928. George Gershwin was writing An American In Paris and the roaring twenties were in full swing. It was also the year that Pietro Giorgi built his first mushroom houses in Temple, Pennsylvania. This was to be the beginning of a proud and long-standing tradition at Giorgio Foods of growing only the highest quality mushrooms. A tradition that has continued decade by decade, through the 1950’s when we added a cannery to meet the demands of the supermarket industry, right through the 1970’s when we opened a modern facility to produce frozen mushrooms. Today, as we move forward into our ninth decade of service, Giorgio Foods is a fully integrated grower, processor and distributor of the finest canned, jarred and frozen mushrooms and value-added mushroom products for the Retail, Foodservice and Industrial markets. Giorgio has become America’s leading mushroom processor by adhering to the most exacting quality standards in the industry and carrying on the family tradition of excellence.
